Friday night I talked Josh into going to see Iron Man for our date. I don't know why he didn't want to see it. I practically had to beg him to go and it's a guy movie! He thought it looked like it would be another "Incredible Hulk" (which means a lot of hype for a dud movie).
We hadn't been to a movie in about 2 months because we're trying to save money. Lately we just spend the weekends at home, so this was going to be a big deal. We got to the Gateway Movie theater and bought tickets for the 7:15 show.
Lately Josh and I have been very annoyed with the tween and teen croud in movies. They are so disrespectful! They talk during the entire movie, kick the back of our seats, and, worst of all, TEXT during the movie. Their phones light up and usually shine right in my eyes! It totally takes us out of the movie. It has gotten so bad that the last three movies we have seriously considered walking out of. Movies are expensive. We have far less distractions renting a Red Box movie and watching it at home. So we were happy to see that this particular movie theater is now offering what they call "Over 21" showings of movies. Only people over 21 can attend, which will hopefully cut out all the distractions. Unfortunately, these "over 21" showings aren't usually shown until 9:00 or 11:00 p.m. so we were stuck going to "Iron Man" with a kid kicking the back of my seat, a baby crying the whole movie with a parent who didn't want to miss the movie to take their kid out, and a kid in the row in front of us texting, etc.
So after Iron Man (which was very good by the way, despite the many distractions) Josh said he wanted to see if we could get into a local Sports Grill to watch the Jazz game. We walked over to the restaurant, expecting them to say that they were completely booked. When we asked the hostess for a table she said "You're in luck! We just got off the phone with a cancelation." We were then escorted to a table in the back room, where there were three giant screens playing the Second Quarter of the Jazz game.
That was so much fun! There were tons of people drinking, eating, some completely drunk, and making as much noise as the Energy Solutions Arena! It felt like we were at the game! Plus the Jazz won which was an added bonus! Josh and I had a blast!
