What is the Deal!

What is the deal with women at church lately? Now I know the prophet has requested that us younger women (yes, I still consider myself to be in that category) to refrain from wearing flip flops to church. I believe most weeks I have followed that instruction. I think there's been one week where I accidently left my flip flops on after walking around in them all morning. Oops!

For the actual Young Women they have been instructed to wear modest clothing. (I'm assuming women older than 24 usually don't wear immodest clothing to church and don't need the extra instruction).

But when will the prophet come out and give some instruction to the older women. Especially in my ward. It seems every Sunday a different old lady in the ward wears this inappropriate piece of clothing. What, you may ask, could old women possibly wear that would be inappropriate for church?

Well, it's The Mumu, or House Dress, as it were.

Observe the following:




Yes. It's true. Women are coming to CHURCH in these monsterous obstrosities they dare to call "Sunday Best".

They love to accent these "beautiful summery dresses" with gaudy bead necklases that look like large pink, blue, red, multi-colored pearls that are almost the size of a Hawaiian Lei.

Although they may think it, they are not on vacation. They are not at home, lounging about eating bon bons and watching their stories. THEY ARE AT CHURCH!

So President Monson, I implore you. At the next Women's Conference, please address this issue. These women have probably been going to church their whole lives. They know better.

This issue is so opposite the issue of dressing modestly for the youth, in an attempt to impress the opposite sex or their friends.

It's as if older women have listened to that talk and thought "I'll be an example to the young women of how to dress modestly." And then they go to the polar opposite of dressing immodestly. They are not dressing to impress the opposite sex. Those dresses have to be a turn-off! They are not dressing to impress friends. (Even if it's becoming a fad.) It's as if they are dressing to unimpress. If that is their goal, then MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Now wear a real church dress next week!
