I'm pregnant!

Maybe seven weeks along is a little early to tell people, but after three years of trying I think we deserve to be a little excited! After having a consult from the U of U fertility clinic last September, and being told to lose about 10% of my weight I went back to the doctor again in May, pounds lighter. I waited until my work's cafeteria plan renewed so it would be more affordable to see the doctor.

In June my doctor prescribed the lowest dose of Clomid, which makes you ovulate, and did two ultrasounds to determine if it had worked. It worked and I had "two healthy eggs" the doctor said. He told me to start using the Clear Blue Easy Digital Ovulation predictor twice a day and try when I got "a smiley face".

And presto! It worked like magic! I'm now seven weeks and feeling (happily) very sick today. Since I went to the fertility clinic they let me have an ultrasound already, so Monday Josh and I got to hear the baby's heart beat and see that little guy, or girl floating around down there. It pretty much looked like a circle in a kidney-shaped sack.

Since I had two eggs we asked the doctor if we could possibly be having twins. He said that if we had waited just one more week to have an ultrasound he would've been able to tell us for sure. We only heard one heart beat, but he said that the ultrasound did look like there could be another baby in there, but it was just too hard to get a good enough view to tell for sure.

Josh had a look of wonder on his face when we heard the baby's heart beat. We got about five pictures printed out of our little jellybean, but I wish I could have taken a picture of Josh's face right then because I've never seen him have that look on his face before and it was just too precious!

So, Yes. I guess on my blog I'm telling people. I figure that probably not many people read my blog. I know my mom and my brother's families read it, and maybe one or two friends, so really I don't think I'm telling many more people than who already knew.

We're really excited, despite my having a slightly sick-to-my-stomach feeling most of the time, and a lot of aversions to food and things that I can't even smell. In fact, I feel like I should apologize to the baby, but every time I see that little fetus thing floating around it makes me queasy because it's so ugly! I'm sorry little baby, but that isn't you. You are adorable, I'm sure! . . . Or, er. . . will be by the time you're born, I'm sure!

So I'm due around April 1, or 3rd. My doctor says April 3rd, but that baby count-down is set to April 1st. So give or take a couple of days. I'm hoping for a March baby, just to have the baby early, but also because of all Josh's six siblings, their spouses, his parents, and his 18 nieces and nephews, none of them are born in March. In fact, it's the only month out of the year when no one has a birthday. So ours would be the only one!
