So I am a social worker, and along with that comes working with hippies. Not that I mind. I consider myself of the Mormon hippie persuasion sometimes when I'm getting dressed in the morning. Like today. I have two braids meeting at the back of my head, but the rest of my hair down. I am wearing a jean skirt and a sort of hippie-looking shirt. I thought about wearing flip-flops (which we could do at our old building), but decided against it because 1 - it's cold outside, and 2- I'm not sure if I would get in trouble at this new building. We have a lot more people working in this building and I don't know what their dress policy is. I'm going to have to watch people's feet for a while to see if they dare wear the beloved Flip-Flop.
So last week, when we moved to our new building we went out to lunch at the Oasis Cafe. Now for those of you who have never been there (I'm guessing maybe Rachelle and maybe Tim have been there) it's pretty much a hippie/vegetarian restaurant-slash-hippie store. The store sells things like crystals, incense, enlightened books on Hindu and Budism, etc. I like the store because they have a small cement pond with real Koi fish swimming in it. And I have to admit I've bought a hand-drawn picture there to hang in my office. Aparently it has the symbol for "Ohm" in the middle, which I didn't know what the symbol was when I bought it and didn't really care.
So we were at the restaurant part of this store, which, surprisingly has really good vegetarian food. But the weirdest part was that when they brought out everyone's water, none of the glasses had ice in them. Apparently ice is bad for the environment. Global warming or something!? Hippies are weird!
