Moving Day

So this Friday my work is moving buildings. I'm not excited to move because my colleages and I are will be moving from a place where there is just six of us to a place with a ton more people working there.



I have to work on Saturday to help the movers know where to put stuff. I don't mind, but realized that I will probably be working overtime without getting paid for it. I want to be able to take some time off during the week to make up for it, but I don't know when I can.


Things at work have really slowed down. I don't know if it's because I went from having all 60 housing clients to having only 25 after we hired a new case manager, or if it's because we're moving and I'm not meeting with my people as often as I could. But it's been nice.


Yesterday Josh went to the dentist so I took off the last 2 hours of work and we went to lunch. Then we went home and gave our house a much needed cleaning. It feels so good to have a clean house!



Last night we watched "The Freedom Writers" with that manly-girl, Hillary Swank from "Million Dollar Baby" and "Boys Don't Cry" (where she plays a girl who dresses as a boy--not a stretch for her physically). Josh said "This is the first time I've thought she actually looks like a girl."



I really liked "The Freedom Writers" because I kind of feel like Hillary Swanks character sometimes at work. I help people who are homeless, sometimes homeless for years, get housing. For some it's their first time paying their own rent and living on their own, legally. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to hear just their life stories that got them to the point of being homeless. Their stories are similar to the life stories of the kids in the movie. Josh and I thought about seeing it in the theater, but never got around to it. I would recommend "The Freedom Writers".
