Six months (and almost one week)

I realize that I didn't blog about Walter when he turned six months last Saturday, so here it goes:

At Walter's six month check-up he weighed 20 pounds 8.5 ounces, and was 29 inches long.  He was in the 95th percentile for height and weight and moved up to the 85th percentile (from 75th) for head circumfrence.

Walter is such a sweet, happy baby.  He is almost always happy, except when very hungry, or very tired.
Walter mastered sitting up about three weeks ago.  He can get onto his tummy from a sitting up position, and can turn in circles on his tummy. 

He has once gotten up on all fours, and he rocks back and forth, but is not crawling yet.
Walter still has two bottom teeth and no other teeth.  He has tried rice cereal, and the following baby foods: peas (hated peas), butternut squash, and beans.  And he loves bananas, and when his daddy sneaks and gives him licorice!

Walter LOVES loves LOVES to talk.  He is our little chatterbox.  And he loves when you copy what he's saying. (Although I think it's supposed to be the other way around!)

Walter loves his Johnny Jumper.  He has learned how to jump in it and will entertained himself for an hour in there if we let him.

He has started noticing the dogs and  if they are close enough he tries to pet them.  We are teaching him how to pet them nicely.  It must be working because the other day, after Josh walked the dogs Sawyer ran right up to Walter, who was sitting on the floor and planted a big wet doggy kiss on his cheek.  I laughed! I was so surprised Sawyer would do that, and that Walter didn't even flinch.

Walter is a VERY alert baby.  He is very aware of things going on around him.  He will no longer fall asleep in my arms while I feed him a bottle while watching t.v.  He has to have an actual bedtime routine otherwise he'll stay up as long as there is something going on around him.

Walter is teaching himself how to sit himself up from laying on his back.  He can't quite do it yet, but he tries really hard.  It's pretty cute to watch him do some baby crunches.

He loves his Mickey Mouse mobile in his room and gets upset if it stops playing music.  He loves to hold the wipes container when we change him because he loves the crinkle sound it makes.

Walter is the joy and love of our lives! We love him very much!
